Magic is still very popular. The new sets the came out (Timespiral and Planar Chaos) are renewed versions of old cards with a color twist. That's what got me excited. Getting to play older decks with a new twist by adding in what I couldn't before. Also, Ravnica block is a newer version of Invasion block. All color combinations are there and so the multi-colored decks are back with a vengeance. The only thing about the game is that there are a lot of net decking going on. That is finding a deck online and playing it as your own. Not too much fun for tournament play because you will play a certain deck maybe 4-5 times in a tournament. But I guess that's what people will do if they want to win. Me, I'm into have fun with decks. That doesn't mean I don't like to win but when I do win, I can say that I won with my deck and not someone else's deck.

But yes, Magic is still popular.

I believe that Magic has maintained a great deal of popularity over the few years it has been out. I started in 1999 and i have been hooked ever since. It is more popular then any other TCG out there. The thing with MTG is that it gets better every year and each set is better then the last. Also they keep fresh minds in the R&D where other games keep the some of the same people. It will last as long as people keep coming up with great ideas for the game.

Even more so! The current expansion takes old cards and abilities and switches their colors around. Red has bounce, green had card drawing, and black can steal your creatures. The online community is holding strong as well, eventhough mtg online still has annoying server crashes. It's just pretty cool to be able to win a competitive draft at 6 in the morning any day of the week. It's amazing that they haven't run out of ideas yet, and still keep new things happening. Sure, it's still more expensive than chess, but still more fun too. The best place to see if there is a local scene is in your local comics/baseball cards/hobby shop. Just ask around. Sometimes just asking is enough for store owners to start up another season of friday night magic.

Yes, Magic is still a famous trading card game. I play it myself and I believe that it is a better game than yu-gi-oh. I did play yu-gi-oh before Magic but in Magic you need more strategy. I do warn you that if you buy Magic cards, you should be friends with someone who also plays them. If you don't have anyone to play these with, it could be a major waste of time and money. A good set of cards to buy first is a starter set to get the feel of the game. After that Tournament packs, preconstructed decks, and just normal cards are good after that. Magic is still a famous game

Yes. Its the only card game thats maintained its popularity. Innumerable games have come and gone but Magic is still here. The only game that comes close is Yu-Gi-Oh, which is 5 years younger than Magic.

I think magic is still as popular as ever but i think the oldschoolers don't play anymore because all the rule changes. I know i have been playing magic since 1999. I have all but given up on it until planar choas just came out.
