After 9 years you should know each other well enough for you to be able to tell him (He may have already figured it out).

This is a very difficult situation to handle, you don't want to come on to strong or you may make your friend uncomfortable, for now you should let him know that your gay. Don't make it a huge deal just bring it up in a conversation.
The problem seems to be trying to find out if he is gay also, I suppose if he is a true friend the most that could happen is he will say "No" no true friend will stop being your friend over something like this.

Growing up my best friend Andre and i where best of buds allways together and he actually got a child with a girl when he was 18 years old..Then we lost touch he went off to school in another city and then a few years later he came home from school and called me at christmas to tell me he was comming out and that he was gay..he was my best friend for years and i never had a clue not even a hint that he was gay..but like i said he was my best friend for years so to this day he is still my friend..who he sleeps with or how he feels about men doesn't change who he is as a person he is still the same guy i grew-up with as best friend..the one thing i would suggest to you is not to tell him you love him...you will meet a nice guy some day and fall in love with someone..but if you tell your friend that you are gay and you love him i'm pretty sure that will end the friendship.especially if he is straight..you really need to look at how much this person means to you as a friend and if you are willing to chance loosing this person in your life..not all men in this day and age are as comfortable with homosexuality..so go easy and choose your words ..good luck

I'm sure after all those years of a close friendship he might have an inkling that you are gay, but obviously he cares enough about you that you guys have remained friends over all the years. Why don't you just come right out and tell him that your gay, see how he takes it and then when your comfortable tell him how you feel about him.

I answered your previous question. If you truly want to be his friend I would not tell him about your sexual orientation. It sounds great now but it may rip your friendship apart. You do not want to do this do you? At some point he may find out but I think that you should try to find another man to possibly be with other than your best friend. Don't chance loosing your best friend of 9 years. Don't tell him. Trust me.

Tell him if you trust him enough to keep his mouth shut but most of the time, if you tell one person, you have just told everyone. If you are ready for that - go ahead and tell him.
