this is a homework question that ive got stuck on. I would just like to get some ideas thrown around to see what other people think? I cant seem to find any evidence to support how or why political factors may influence criminality... Any help would be extremely appreciated!

Yes and no. It all comes down to the individual, but political factors do influence some criminal activity. For instance politicians themselves can be criminals, not by murdering or robbing but by accepting gifts(money, trips, material goods) and voting or making laws that would benefit those who supplied the gifts. Now look at a regular person, he might rob a liquor store to earn some fast cash, due to some idiotic laws concerning finances or incomes, he might not have seen an easier way out of the gutter. In reality the only thing in our modern society that influences criminal activity is ultemately money and the amount of greed an individual has.

Just look toward the "White House" during the Nixon years (Spiro Agnew)and Watergate. The Clintons in "Whitewater",and that little sex scandle. You should have a ton of material to sort through,including the present occupant of the White House.

Sure, just look at all the racial profiling and propaganda that gets spread around by polititians trying to fear-monger votes. They make innocent people in to criminals all the time.

Look up the criminal records of our law makers and polititians. that should get you started on an interesting and fresh insite to your quest.
