I recently noticed that my daughters daycare has been spraying lysol on everything including the toybox at the end of the day and then the next day the babies play with these toys and put them in their mouths. I also heard that lysol is very dangerous to spray around little ones. I need to find this info so I can give it to the daycare. The lysol customer service wasn't very helpful.

There is nothing wrong with using Lysol around children and infants. As long as it dries, before they start playing with or chewing on the toys. The Lysol is actually good because it kills the bacterias that cause colds, pneumonia, rotavirus, etc.

Theres a chapter in a book by a Dr. Perlmutter on toxins and babies. Its called Raise your Childs IQ by Kindergarten or something like that. It talks about the toxins in cleaning supplies I remember. Watch the sites you find too if you do general search, that book appeared to be objective. We had a door to door salesman come over trying to sell organic cleaning products (which i do belive in) but was more using scare tactics. Also something like spraying vinegar might work just as well.

I had the book from the library, but heres what it has:

Get rid of toxins: Protecting a child from neurotoxins found in foods, toys and even baby bottles can help preserve precious IQ points.

Dr. Perlmutter provides a scientifically backed food and supplement plan for children and nursing mothers and details the many brain-building activities that you can do with your child. In addition, he reveals the numerous toys and household products that contain harmful, brain-damaging toxins and shows how to identify and combat common childhood problems like ADD and food allergies that may affect your child’s development

try calling the lysol company or ask your pediatrician. as long as they are not spraying on the babies or near the babies and the lysol drys before they put it in their mouths i think they are fine. if we can use it around our kitchens i dont see why there should be a problem. but i do understand your concern.

Well, it's poison. If toys are sprayed with something like this, they must be rinsed thoroughly. Another dangerous item is the "magic eraser" that is being advertised - it has formaldehyde in it! Won't even allow it in my house, let alone clean off crayon from a wall in a kid's room or something!
Try websites like Consumer Reports or something dealing with chemicals in our environment, in everyday cleaners.

Here is something stating that using certain chemicals and cleaners around infants and toddlers can hurt them more than help them.
