Exercise! Get a punching bag or go for a jog, they will both help significantly. When you work out it causes your body to produce endorphins (which make you happy) the same as any pill one might get from a doctor, people can and really do get addicted to working out and that is why - it saves our sanity! And if it is a short fuse with certain individuals you are dealing with, practice romoving yourself from the situation when you know it is heating up but do your best to make it clear to who ever you are walking away from that you want to deal with whatever it is, but you would like to do it in a civil manner and at that point and time, you can not. But be sure to go back and resolve whatever it was in the first place though - or it might just get worse.

Physical exertion. Go for a brisk walk or punch a pillow. If you are in a place that you aren't able to do anything like that, write down what's upsetting you. I sometimes will write a letter (that I never intend to send) and vent everything in the letter. It's very therapeutic if you can't beat the stuffing out of a pillow!

At work I usually tear pages, staple anything I can find or just go for a walk. I always seem calm on teh exterior but only because I found small ways to manage it. If all else fails just go for anger management.
