My mother abandoned me when I was a year old. growing up I idolized her and romanticized her. After I had my first child, I one day thought "that was a terrible thing to do to me..." and I had a VERY different view of her from then on. I still call her and stay in touch but I haven't cared what she thinks of me ever since having my own children.
Now, my step-mother, hell yeahs, she means the world to me. I always loved her but ever since having my own kids, I appreciate all she did for me even more now.

Oh, yes! I definately have a greater understanding and appreciation for my mom! It's a great experienc(motherhood), burt it is also very challenging and a lot of hard work. I know, now, why she got so frustrated at times. I have a 4yr old, 2yr old, & 4month old twins, so I have my hands very full! People are always asking my how I do it. I hope my kids grow up to appreciate all I did for them!

Yes! I had a moment about one day after I had my baby when I just realized that all the mistakes my mom made don't matter, because I realized how much she must love me. Sounds kinda corny, but ever since then I feel like I understand her better.

COMPLETELY!!! When I became a mom I finally figured out why my mother did everything she did and how much of a saint she was to deal with my crap! You can't understand that until you are a mom too.
