For certain areas of your home they are a must (kitchen and bathroom). With that said I don't think you need to go nuts trying to sterilize your house, it is not possible. There are many, many specialty products that are probably a WASTE OF MONEY. Comet and bleach are excellent disinfectants and both are under $2.00. A antibacterial dish soap is fine for general clean up. Kitchen sponges and cloths are a big source of contamination, microwave wet sponges and dish rags, it will kill all molds, mildew, and bacteria, doesn't cost a dime.

Anything overused is bad, and these products have reached that point.
