No one is trying to erase anything.
Slavery happened... but it also ended 145 YEARS AGO in America thanks to White people. (It still goes on in Africa and Arabia, however.)

In retrospect, the Western slave trade may have been the best thing to ever happen to African-Americans.
The ancestors of modern Blacks sufferred in the past so that today Black people worldwide can enjoy a standard of living they could never have conceived, much less acquired in their motherland, all thanks to White and Black people past and present.

There is no place or cause for guilt over the matter, but a little gratitude would be nice.

Not sure what one has to do with another, guns and kidnapping go further back than slavery in America. Slavery on the other hand has happened to every race through out time and is still going on. I find two things very strange: 1. African Americans forget or don't mention that other Africans sold them into slavery and 2. Being so sensitive about what happened, that they don't put every waking breath into free all slaves that exist today.

While the first may just be an oversight, the second is a true yardstick of your feelings about slavery.

The reason the white man went into Africa to get slaves is because they had attempted to enslave the Native Americans, but because they knew the land too well and escaped too often it was no long cost effective to try to enslave them. Also we relied on them for trading too much to constantly aggravate them. We thought by keeping them happy that it would make stealing their land that much easier. Since the trade roots took them close enough to Africa anyway and the slaves were realtively cheap the Europeans simply bought them there. This way the slaves couldnt use a home advantage to gain freedom & it didnt matter if they lost a few on the way because they cost so little.

I dont believe that the "kidnapping" of actual slaves was done soley by the white man. In actuality majority of the time it was fellow Africans that sold their fellow man into slavery. The philosophy of better him than me took place, as well as coins crossing hands. Imagine the amount of gold that one would get for selling an entire village to a European. Money is more powerful than guns often times.
