I just wonder just i try out for basketball or football. If you say basket ball, what position should i play? And if it's football, what position(i like the offense better.) i can generally run very fast, bad thrower, average catcher, and don't really like to play tackle, i only want to run and catch, what sould it be, Football or Basket ball? And what position? Thanks in advance.
And also any tip from the "veteran."

Henry,

The most important question to ask yourself is "which sport do I enjoy more?" Once you have answered that, here are some things to think about. You have the size to play either or both sports. If you choose football, you sound about right for a running back. I don't know if you have ever tried tackling someone, but it's a lot more fun than most people think. You might make a decent defensive back as well. If you choose basketball, your coach will determine what position you will play based on your strengths on the court, rather than your size at your age. However, if you are bigger than most of the other guys on the team, you will undoubtedly be put in a "post" position, either center or power forward. You're only 13, so you have a lot of growing left to do. Look at your parents. How tall are they? You can probably add an inch or two to the tallest of them to determine where you'll probably end up. Like I said, the most important consideration is which sport will you be happiest playing? Follow your heart.

Love,

Mamalissa

These idiots who say PG or DB must have missed the Age: 13 part. At 6'0", you are easily a forward or center in basketball... probably a forward. If you go for football, with good speed 6'0" and 170 lbs is a solid halfback. When I was 13, I was 5'9" and 120 lbs and I played small forward (although I was taller than the center - but I've always been a shooter, not a pounder). If you don't like contact, go for basketball as a Small Forward with speed. If you don't mind contact (I'm assuming you mean you don't like playing offensive line, not that you don't like tackle football), then you should try out for the RB in football.

many High schools offer Basketball right after football:
you can do both.

You're tall enough to play guard in Basketball.

For football - go out for tight end. You'll have a blast!

Good luck!

Why not play both? You sound like a WR or DB for football and a Small Forward or Shooting Guard for basketball. Try em both out, their seasons are at different times. I played both in high school.

If you can't throw or catch and you do not like contact, then I would recommend you do not play either. Try golf or soccer or maybe join the chess club. Good Luck.

Def a wideout but you may be a decent safety. Maybe a free safety because you can use your speed to roam he field. Plus if you are only an average catcher, this might be better for you than wideout.
