I called off 2 hours and 15 minutes before my shift.....2 hours later there was a knock at my door and my wife answered and it was my boss asking if I was home.......he must have got my address from my personal records on file with the company..........she told him I was infact home but I was sick and sleeping.........he asked if he could speak with me........and she said no, because I was sick and sleeping........he mentioned that he had been trying to call me all morning and I hadn't answered the phone and he wanted to know if I was coming to work..........at this point she asked him to leave........he went to his car and sat infront of my house for 5 more minutes before he left........my wifes car was running and she wanted to leave for work but was uncomfortable/intimidated leaving the house with him still outside.

Do I have any recourse here?..........I am a laborer for a major US company and I feel that this was completely wrong on many different levels

find out who's your bosses boss is and report this action to him state you called in sick and he showed up demanding practically to see you . are you in the union? report to union leader also ..seems to me you need to ask for a raise if its so important for you to be at work that your boss shows up on your door step !!

It would really depend on the state you were in and if you have a sick day policy that you have agreed to at your place of business. Though I have to imagine that unless he forced his way into your home or was in some way stalking you or making your work place uncomfortable as a result of your missing a day that there is probably not much that can be done. You will want to talk to your HR department about this and you will want to look for another job.

That is straight up psychotic behavior on your bosses part. There is something seriously wrong there. Kind of creepy and completly unjustified. You do have a case, speak to human resources immediatley or since you are a laborer I assume you are in a union, call your union rep ASAP. Wow very very strange. Good luck with that.

It was indeed wrong and you should have a chat with your HR representative. It is not illegal for him to have done what he did, but it is certainly a questionable management practice to act as though your employees are criminals when they call in sick.

I would first speak to him and ask why he felt the urgency to come to your house and bother you while you were ill.

He really doesn't has the right to harass you.

Go on what he tells you when you speak to him next. I would certainly report his odd behaviour it sounds as though he is a controll master and bully.

it is actually illegal for your boss to contact you whilst you are off work ill , it is classed as harrassment and you could infact take it to court if you wished.
