that made the song more meaningful than ever?

I've always thought Bonnie Raitt had a beautiful style and moving voice, with fun yet poignant songs... and I'd felt and identified with "Not the Only One" since I bought that album. I just never knew who "my guy" was from the song.
That is until I met my husband, and the very next time I heard this song, I just started crying, because here he was - live and in person, no longer just my imagined hero in her song.
To this day my eyes get misty and I hold his hand when I hear it on the airwaves, and I wish I could thank Bonnie personally. The gospel touch at the end makes the tears fall everytime.

Has this ever happened to you? What song? What defining moment was it for you?

Thanks for sharing...

At the risk of sounding stereotypical, Stairway To Heaven is a song that I never really understood until a very changing moment in my life. Now, I really really get it and love it more each time I hear it. Basically, times were really hard and I almost died as a result. I got through it somehow (nothing less than fate) and now, that song really stands out.

I loved the song "Don't Speak" by No Doubt, seemed kinda sad but thought it was beautiful. One morning my husband woke up, took a shower, and then started saying he was having chest pains. I called an ambulance and he died a couple of minutes after they arrived. With all the firemen, ambulance people and my young son crowding the house it seemed so unreal. To this day whenever I hear that song I have the most vivid image of that morning in our living room.

Not a happy story as yours is, but that's my story.

Yeah I saw magnolia when it came out, and later my parents got divorced, my father left us and pretty much threw us out of his life. For years I thought it would't make much of a difference but the pain I had blocked out kept knocking on the door...."It's not going to stop...it's not going to stop, so just..give up." Pretty much knocks me down now.....
