I'm just doing a survey for my own personal reference, all I ask is that rhetoric be kept to a minimum.

1. Do you identify yourself with any particular party? If yes, who and why? If no, how do you describe your views?

2. Would you take the the time to listen to a candidate who you have not agreed with in the past?

3. Have you ever changed your mind based on speaking with someone who does not agree with you?

4. Do you feel it is wise or unwise to vote a straight party ticket? Why or why not?

Thanks for bearing with me, I look forward to the responses, to see if I am correct in my estimation.

So far these are all really great answers with the exception of one, and thanks to everyone for exhibiting intelligence over rhetoric.

1. The beliefs of the Dems is most inline with how I think and feel. I believe in the individual first...the country second.

2. Yes...I would. Open mindedness is the only way a person can learn and grow.

3. Absolutely. I don't claim to know everything.

4. Never a good thing to vote blindly along party lines. I believe that the joining of a political party is unnecessary and dangerous. People should not be forced to align with one party or another...it is only in place for polling purposes...

1.Registered Democrat. Lesser of two evils. My views are far left on some things and right on others.
2.Yes, if they could hold my interest
3.On minor things
4.Unwise. Voting straight party ticket is nonsense, especially considering both major parties are corrupt and essentially the same. Vote for the best candidate.

I am for the American people, as a veteran with some medals I am proud of everyone of them. When I went in the US Army and did a hardship tour, realising I might not come back home, I knew all was safe at home and our Nation was safe. As far as hard knocks being a black male in America I have had more than my fair share of hard knocks. But, I have also had great pleasure in sharing freedom with my black, white, and all other american nationalities which make up this Nation. Lots of fun dude, lots of good times, those alone make my service all worth wild. Serving, this Nation was the greatest thing I have ever done. I just don't like being a bump on a log, and I love people. As far as the Politics, are concerned we perhaps, we should just post-pone the elections until after we have everthing worked out. What good is it to elect and have a President, if we are underseige.

1. I consider myself a liberal Democrat, because I'm pro-choice, a feminist, pro-gay rights, pro-environment, and a strong supporter of the separation of church and state.
2. Yes, I would take the time to listen to a politician with whom I normally disagree. It's best to see all sides of a situation, after all.
3. Yes, because speaking to a Republican actually made me change my mind about Israel.
4. I sort of think that it would be wise to vote a straight party ticket, because you want to fill the seats with people who are most likely to represent your views. That being said, though, if you are an independent voter who doesn't affiliate himself with any particular party, I think that not voting a straight party ticket would be feasible.

1. yes, because it fits my opinion and attitude on issues that matter to me.
2. That would depend if I trusted the candidate. Words mean nothing to me, its past actions that tell me what I need to know.
3. Yes, I have, but not often, and I will verify it first before changing my mind.
4. I pretty much vote the party ticket unless there is someone who is so outstanding who I trust to act in my best interest, then I will consider them. Joe Lieberman is one of those that would have me voting outside my party.

Never. Straight ticket voting is for simpletons who are either too lazy to investigate candidate's views, or for those who are too weak-willed to think for themselves.
