I have a large aquarium w/ several fancy goldfish. I've noticed some of them have developed cloudy looking eyes. What's the deal?

Is it time for a water change? When was the last time you've changed it? I noticed that my Goldfish's eyes would get cloudy if I went alittle too long. It's a sign of stress I believe, or just a side-effect of bad water conditions.

You should buy some test strips to test your water or just keep on it to make sure your ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates don't get too high. This can kill your fish.

Are there red veins appearing in their tails? If so, then it's definetly the water. Good luck. I'm still new to goldfish myself, so maybe someone with more experience can give you a better diagnosis. Good luck! :)

That could be either a bacterial infection or a parasite. Look closely to see if the cloudy stuff seems to be inside it's eyes or on it's eyes. Also look to see if there is any white slimy looking stuff on the fish around it's eyes.

If it's on the outside and on the fish near it's eyes you have a parasite and need to treat with any medication that contains malachite green. Often you find that in ick medications and that will work just fine for this parasite too. Sometimes it's in fugus medication and that's ok, whatever it says it treats, as long as it has malachite green in it, that's what you want.

If the cloudiness is inside its eye, then you have a bacterial infection and need to treat with maracyn 2 or Furanace. Treat as directed on the box but treat for 10 days. Even if it looks better after only 5-6 treat for the whole 10 days.

Be sure to remove the carbon from your filter while you treat with either of these because it carbon will take the medicine out of the water.

Ammonia spike or ph crash could do it. Check your water perameters. The tank is a little over stocked. Do more frequent and higher volume water changes for that stocking level. I have 4 in a 55 and I have to change 50% of the water per week since they have all reached over 4 inches.

I've seen this before. The cause is poor water conditions. You need to do water changes weekly with goldfish. They also require 1 rounded tablespoon of aquarium salt (not table salt) per 5 gallons.
You need to do 20% changes with a gravel vac. How many fish are "several"? How big are they? How large is a large aquarium? Goldfish need about 3 gallons of water per inch of fish.
