The third isle on your left at the Depot. Just passed the left handed shovels and rakes you'll see the spot with the left handed hammer, screwdrivers, wrenches and paint brushes. If you get to the left handed cordless drills, you've gone to far.
You better hurry because they're a very popular item and they may not have any left.

The old joke is: Pick up the hammer with you right hand. Now put it in your left hand. Now its a left handed hammer. Actually, every hammer is both left and right handed. The main thing is to swing the hammer from your wrist and not your elbow. try to keep your elbow fairly still. In this way you have more control since you are using less "parts" to swing it. Also, keep your eye focused on the head of the nail as you swing. Practice on something that won't get ruined if you miss the nail. In order for a nail to hold, it must be driven into a stud behind the wall surface.
OR . . .
Use a fastener that screws into the wall. Look in the picture hanging hardware section at your local home center. Make sure you get a hanger that is rated for the weight of the pictures. There are some screw-in hangers that don't need to be driven into a stud.
The potential damage and stress from a screw is much less that from a nail.

The same place they sell left handed monkey wrenches and screw drivers.
If you really don't know, just take the hammer out of your right hand and put it in your left. Now you have a left handed hammer.

I'm assuming you're kidding, but in case you're not:
There's no such thing as a left-handed (or right-handed) version of many tools. (Hammers, screw drivers, saws, paintbrushes, etc.) There's only a right way to use them.
Don't let anyone sell you a "left handed hammer." Then they'll be able to sell you anything.

I am also guessing this must be a joke considering hammers are one of the few things that aren't right or left hand specific.

Actually, you can buy a right handed hammer. When you get home, put it in your right hand and get a firm grip on it. Then put it in your left hand. Now you have a left handed hammer.

I think you want a sledgehammer, which you hold with both hands. That should work great for putting tacks in the wall for hanging pictures. Make sure to get up on a ladder and swing really hard.
And don't forget to wear safety glasses.
