You can use ferber on a six month old according to my pediatrician. I think it might be too late to buy a crib, the mattresses are really hard and neither of my children liked them. But it isn't too late to buy a nice toddler bed, put her in her own room where you can close the door. If she can open doorknobs there are child proofing knobs. That way, if she does get up, she will stay in her room that you have made safe for her. I don't think it will take too long. It was only a week and a half for our daughter when she eight months old.

As for the Ferber method, I don't think it's too late. Anything is worth a try. As for the crib, I think it might be too late for the full crib, but most cribs these days convert to a type of day bed that will get them used to a regular bed. It is like the crib but you take the front of it off and lower the mattress to the lowest level. I love it with my kids. It's just their size.

Yes-ferber method works great, 12 months is fine. it will take a while-be consistant. It worked wonders at my house on both my kids
its not too late to buy a crib if you want one, both mine sleep in one till about 2 1/2. Ive seen others go to age 3 and some others crawl out at 18 months!
