Well, I'm no liberal, but I can tell you that most people I know are just plain tired of all the crap that goes on in Washington on both sides of the fence. They want fresh blood in there. Actually, the way the government was originally set up, it was supposed to be made of of common men (okay, or women) that would take time off from their regular jobs to go to Washington and try to work for the good of their constituents and then go back home after the end of the term to their previous jobs. This business of "professional" politicians has screwed up the works and I think a lot of people are ready for a change. Of course, they'll never get rid of that drunk, vehicular-homicide-committing, ranting Kennedy in Mass.

I guess the question is, what kind of experience does the president need? I'm not necessarily supporting Obama, but I am certainly not discounting him for lack of experience. It is clear that America needs a different kind of leader this time around. And perhaps that 'difference' can come from someone with a new attitude and fresh eyes. POTUS has a great many advisors from all important factions to counsel and educate him. So let them do their job, and let the President do his job...unifying the country.

I am a Progressive and I haven't made up my mind who I will vote for yet, because I have time to listen to the candidate's campaigns and then make a judgment based on the person whom I see fit. I will vote based on what I have learned not what I was told by some party or a patriarchal father. I am even willing to consider a Republican, because it is about issues more than some blind allegiance to some political ideology. That is what it means to be a thinking liberal and not a hardline unmoveable conservative unwilling to look at the whole picture.
Obama's platform appeals to me because he is the only candidate talking about being a uniter of the American people and stopping this deep polarization that is going to be the demise of this nation.

Just look at the alternatives liberals have. Should they vote for Hillary who has no chance in a general election? John Edwards the one trick pony of two America fame. Yesterdays new Al Gore. Any of the fringe candidates? Really just what is a good lib suppose to do. Besides they can pretend they really care about race relations by voting for the black man

You are absolutely correct. Obama does not have the experience to run the country. We have seen in the past 6 years what someone totally out of his depth can do to this great nation. Bush is the poster child for incompetence.

To be honest, I think the less political experience a politician has the better it is.

I personally don't want a person who has been a politician for 20 years and has totally lost touch with the people.

Yeah, we'd much rather Mark Foley or Newt Gingrich. Currently, no side seems smart enough to run someone who knows anything. They only want to send someone vehemently polarized to their side to the White House. That's why the condition of the US continues to deteriorate.

I'm not a liberal - or lieberal - but I'd just as soon have him than those that seem to have experience since they haven't done much good either. Maybe time to change it up a bit.
