If you have signed the contract for a year then you have no choice but to stay with them.

To my mind a contract is binding on both parties..
You pay a fee..they provide a service.
If you stop paying, you have broken the contract...if they do not or can not provide the service, then they have broken the contract.
Intermittent service is not what you signed up for....you signed up for an uninterrupted service.
If you think that the service is not up to a standard that you expected then see about taking them to a small claims court for your fees back and compensation for your trouble.

Whats up with virgin media they are only a gateway to the Internet which you will have to pay for who ever provides your service. You don't have to use their homepage or email or anything .in fact you can make it so you don't even know they are there at all . Sky is the same , you just pay for Internet access and i think virgin media is one of the cheapest.

Dial 150 on your virgin phone, I think they are allowing people to leave, some people have said they offer incentives to stay.
At the moment I'm glad I've got them, I missed Life of Mars yesterday on BBC1, but saw it today for free via On Demand.

I would say you're stuck with your contract. I doubt you'd get a refund. All these companies care about is your money, they won't care if you're happy or not.
