What's the body count that tells us it's time to be realistic about what's really happening in Iraq?

Edit: Any life that was taken away based on half-truths and deception was wasted. There is NOTHING noble in what we're currently doing in Iraq. And Bush is responsible for wasting the lives, not me.

Snap: I'm sure the families of those who have died fighting this war to enable the Iraqis to be totally dependent on the U.S. would completely agree with you.

I don't know a little over 5100 people died in one day of combat during World War II.
At that juncture in history would you also have advocated that we pull back off the beaches and let the Germans take control of all of Europe?
My point is that 3,200 people over as many years as we have been there seems to be a pretty small body count in my mind. While the death of every soldier is very sad, it is a necessary evil and part of fighting a war.
If we are going to fight wars in the future, and put a cap on how many people can die, then you better get prepared to lose a lot of wars. In the grand scheme of things this has been a pretty mellow war.

Some Day soon, you will know what wasted means.
Some say lives were wasted in our own war of Independence, Some say lives were wasted in our Civil war, Some say lives were wasted in the Spanish/American war, Some say we wasted lives in WWI, some say we wasted lives in WWII, Some say we wasted lives in Korea, Some say we wasted lives in Vietnam. Some say lives are wasted every day through out the world. Do you know what this war is all about? When you do, it may be too late to know the term,'Wasted'.
Continue on your way, enjoy the comforts of home. It may not last long.

The only way American lives will be wasted is if Iraq ends in defeat. Otherwise no price is too high to pay for victory

I think its pretty disrespectful and ignorant to say that any solider who risked their life in any war and paid the ultimate price was a waste. The body count tells us that in this war just like in any other war throughout time, brave men and women are dying for their country, and people like you are disrespecting that with even greater zeal than ever.

NO life is "wasted". How many people alive today would have been dead now had Hussein still been in power?! Or do only American lives count?

Sadly, you cannot define the ending to a war based upon body count. The real question is...what is our end target? Without that set, we cannot know when we have achieved what we set out to do...

That depends, do you want the job done right or do you want to go back in a few years and start over?

For Conservatives it's usually when a loved one is added to the body count. That's a terrible way to learn the price of war.

The lives won't be "wasted" unless we quit before winning.
