I wonder why, Instructors always say this several times: "Make sure you wear loose-fitting, light colored and lightweight clothes while you exercise in hot and humid"

Light colours reflect the light and heat, directing it away from you.

Dark colours absorb it, warming you up.

I pity all those women who wear black burkas in the desert!

Loose-fitting and light weight fabrics are best in summer because if clothes are too tight, it can raise the body temperature and cause excess sweating. This can ultimately cause dehydration and in worst-case scenarios, even death. Loose-fitting clothing allows air to circulate freely.

Light-colored clothing is best in summer because the rays of the sun are reflected back. When you wear black you are actually reflecting no light back, which is why your eyes see the color of black. When you wear white all of the sun color rays are reflected back, which is why the eyes see the color of white.

Hope this answers your question. :)

Darker colors tend to attract sunlight alot more than lighter colors..which actually reflect the sun away from you. If you put a peice of black construction paper beside a peice of white construction paper and put a baggie filled with ice on each one nad put it under a light, the bag of ice on the black paper will melt fastest...try it! The loose-fitting clothing will allow your body to sweat and sweating is our bodies natural "cooling system". Tighter clothing tends to keep this from happening or it doesn't allow the sweat to "dry" as quickly so it naturally will make you feel hotter.

Well it's said that, dark colors hold the heat in, lighter colors let the air circulate through the material better.
