hate with a passion, much rather spend 1 hour longer shopping and get everything in my local town. you get better goods, better services and know that you are helping your neighbours at the same time.

Ruin local economies, farming.

Ruin foreign countries through over production, use of water and paying appalling wages.

None supermarket shopping would be cheaper if more did it, stop being lazy or tight and shop local ;-)

We have / are becoming a lazy population, most people and their kids would benefit from a walk around town, or to the shops. Zero effort to purchase junk food equals fat unhealthy population. Our NHS will pay the price in 20 years and so will you through tax.

You should not confuse a Coop or family run place with the giants like Tesco who are the real problem.

EXTRA - They might have kept the cost of living down for some, but what about the businesses that they force to accept ridiculous prices for their products?

Anyone recall the story about cheap rubbish fuel being sold for the same prices as decent stuff and cars breaking down?

How can they build so many supermarkets? council bribes?

I love my local supermarket. They are always friendly and offer samples throughout everyday that keeps my toddler happy. All the employees know where to find things and they send out a recipe book once a month. I'm a lunch caterer and I literally go to the store every day of the week at least once, I'm glad to have one that I really like. As far as them carrying clothes and things of that nature it can make one stop shopping way easier, I'm always glad I can pick up that pack of lightbulbs or extra socks at the same time.

Dislike them, main reason being that 3 of my favorite local independent markets were put out of business due to their inability to compete with the lower prices offered by supermarkets:(

Have to say I love them because of the prices. If I had more money though, I'd be shopping locally and buying from an organic fruit and veg box scheme. Unfortunately living in a city, it just costs too much. When I lived in the countryside there were plenty of farms to buy from.

Love them. The have kept the cost of living down because of the fierce competition between them. I do not use any special one but use those that are close enough to be convenient. I have 3 to choose from and buy different things from each one. They all offer huge choices and at pretty good quality. Love the wine from Tesco, own brand porridge from Sainsbury's and bread and selected tinned goods from Lidl.

Even though they are convenient and prices are competitive, I don't really care to shop in them. And I hate the smell of them. I'm in east texas and I can't stand to go into a Brookeshire's store b/c they all stink! There is a certain smell that they have that make me sick to my stomach. If I had more money and time I'd rather go to a farmer's market.

I don't know if Iceland are one of the big four, but I really dislike them. Their anti-GMF policies play on scientific ignorance and play a major part in holding back the development of this exciting new scientific breakthrough.
There is no evidence that GMF is dangerous, yet Iceland purport to know better than all scientists who have been working on the stuff for years. This is immense arrogance. And Iceland have a vested interest in doing this.

I love my local supermarket,it has everything under one roof and at a fraction of the price of smaller shops or markets.I know it is taking trade away from smaller shops but it is the way forward, nobody as got the time to trudge around they want it there and then.

Hate them with a passion. Read the books "Shopped" and "Not on the Label" if you want to know more about why.

They don't offer choice, they only offer the choices that makes them money.

Used to love them, until i realised the damage these huge companies were having on the small businesses in the community. The multinationals are taking over, and before we know it our choice of where to shop will be taken away from us.They are getting richer at our expense, and the expense of the smaller shops.
