This dream symbol should encourage you to look at some of your more "dangerous" emotions, memories, and experiences.
Carl Jung said that all wild animals indicate latent affects (feelings and emotions that we do not readily deal with). They are also symbolic of dangers (hurtful and negative things) being "swallowed" by the unconscious.

Its hard to interpret dreams when you don't know the person
So read what is below and see if it fits your dream.
Don't forget though, dreams are not just about one thing. you may have seen the creature and been scared, but running from it also symbolizes that your sub-conscience is trying to get away from something (the creature or what it represents) maybe the creature being a baby symbolizes something in your childhood? or are you trying for a baby at the moment? or worried about a child? and there could have been something else in the dream too, like what colour the creature was, where you were at the time etc. Really you need to put more detail in to your dream questions to get a complete answer..

This is what the website came up with, Hope this has helped (and made sense)

Alligator
To see an alligator in your dream, symbolizes treachery, deceit, and hidden instincts. It may be a signal for you to take a new perspective on a situation. It may also represent your ability to move between the material world of waking life and the emotional, repressed world of the unconscious.? Alternatively, the alligator represents healing powers and qualities.

To dream that you are running away from the alligator, indicates that you are unwilling to confront some painful and disturbing aspect of your unconscious. There is some potentially destructive emotion that you are refusing to acknowledge and owning up to

PS.. sorry for such a long answer.. they dont limit you...

This is from dreammoods.com.

The fact that the alligator is white and "a baby" - small and innocent - would indicate to me that you know that it is harmless, and yet you are afraid of it.

Is there someone you don't trust, even though you have no reason to mistrust them? Maybe your dream is telling you that they are harmless. Or, in the alternative, if there is someone who appears to be harmless, but who has teeth, maybe you should be afraid of them. Only you can interpret this in light of your life circumstances. In doing so, think about your feelings during the dream and what elicited them.

Well, since the alligator was a pet, I would say that this dream probably represents something in your life close to you which you previously enjoyed but are now being repulsed by. The alligator symbol itself, though, is probably unimportant. Your brain simply pulled a random symbol from your subconscious to use as the focus of your emotional conundrum.
