Hey...
In MY opinion, I think as long as you have been on the pill for at least a few months, you should be OK.
Also, while I am thinking about it...you should have used a "Barrier" method. While I realize that it is too late for that now...perhaps you can think about this method next time? Coarse...in the "Heat Of The Moment"...WHO in their right mind would wanna jump up & say...WAIT! Lemme get my diaphram", etc? LMAO
But, lemme see what I can find on the subject for you...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Failure rate of birth control pills
When using the pill, everyone knows that there is a slight failure possibility even if used correctly, but I have heard conflicting info on the stats. (assume perfect use)
I have heard:
1) 1 in 100 women failure rate
2) 1 in 1,000 women failure rate
Which is correct? There's a pretty big difference between those numbers!
From scientific studies where individuals have been highly motivated to comply, the pregnancy rate for the pills is 0.1% or 1 per 1000. Overall, however, the pregnancy rate in actual use is 3% or 30 per 1000. You are correct that this is a large difference.
Source for these numbers is Speroff et al, Clinical Gynecologic Endocrinology and Infertility, 5th edition, 1994, p. 689.
While I am sure this may not be of much help...I can't seem to find much on the subject...SORRIE! I KNOW the info is out there, but with my 18 yr old talking to me it is hard to pay attention. :)
I still say it really depends on HOW LONG you have been taking the pill. The longer, the better, the lesser chance of you becoming preggo. (coarse, I got preg on the pill...TWICE!) Don't mean to scare U, but know that the possibility is there. :/
Don't worry about pregnancy. If you have been on the pill longer than one month without missing any pills (except for the 7 day break) you will not get pregnant.
STDs, on the other hand, may be a concern, depending on your BF's history.
Well it's a really long time since I was on the pill but my understanding is if you take them correctly you are protected throughout the month, even during the 7 day break.
There is always a risk, but since you had taken all the pills, you are at a pretty low risk. Just make sure that you take the pills daily-don't forget. I'd say you're pretty safe. It's happened to me, and I was just fine!
