I think that as long as you eat healthy, exercise, do not obsess on how thin or fat you look, feel good about how you look, then whether you are thin or have some extra padding, you are treating your body right. any extreme is bad. too thin or too fat... some people can eat like crazy and yet remain thin where others who eat little gain pounds just by looking at a cake. the metabolism is different. so, to be thin is not good or bad. it depends on how you treat/respect your body. however, it is my understanding that medical studies have pointed out the fact that overweight individuals run higher health risks than the ones who fall in the "thin" (not the skinny) category.

Being thin is good for your health in certain ways. Your body has it easier to function, while your ability to protect yourself from harm and disease is slightly lessened- It is proven that thin people live longer in certain circumstances. You have to live healthy too, just being thin is not enough :)
The point however is not being TOO thin. That is extremely harm full and in many cases deadly. Check with a doctor about what weight would be ideal for yourself. They really know this kind of thing... If a doc is telling you your weight is dangerous for your health, he is most probably telling you the truth, and if you feel otherwise, you are most certainly wrong and in need of therapy.

Well, there's being thin and there's being downright skinny. I think being a healthy, thin weight does a lot for your energy level for one thing. However, as far as confidence goes, many thin people, who have always been thin, don't feel as good about themselves as people who are thin now after loosing a good deal of weight. I look back at pics of myself when I was thin and I distinctly remember thinking I was fat or ugly. Now, when I have to work very hard to lose weight and keep that weight off, I am much more proud of my accomplishments and my figure - even though I am not as skinny as I was when I was a teenager.

There have been studies that actually show that being too thin by a certain percentage is good for your body and your longevity. I don't remember what the study is called, but there is a whole movement around eating little for optimum health. I wish I could remember, as I'd like to look it up and re-read it.

I think each person has a "normal" for their body type and lifestyle. My wife is naturally thin and has been the same size her whole adult life. Her Mom is thin also. They are both healthy and thin though. There's a difference in healthy thin and skinny. Being skinny or underweight can cause health problems. Ecah of us have to find what is normal for our bodies and try to be happy with that. Alot of it is genetics.

I dont know if I quite understand your question, being thin good for your body or yourself? It could be both good and bad for your body and yourself.
For example, I had a friend who was thin, even though she was thin she still thought she was fat (bad for herself), didnt eat a lot of food and chained smoked. However, she was thin but her body was unhealthy not only from the cigarettes but the lack of vitamins and nutrients she was putting her body.
I am also thin, thus is good for both me and my body. Good for my body because the size of my body gives me the energy and strength to move around. Good for myself because I have self-confidence and feel good by the way I look.

It is good for your body, unless you are too thin (why else would we be concerned for obese people's health). It could be good for your mind, depending on the person.

Yes - being thin (without being too thin!) is good for you. It reduces strain on the heart and studies have shown that reduced calorific intake can improve longevity...
