I am curious to know if this has happened to anyone else. My son is going to be 5 months on March 21. Sometimes while sleeping, he screams so loud it scares me. Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes, my son did the same thing at that age. It lasted a few months actually and right about when he started walking it completely stopped. I think it has something to do with the way their mind works at figuring out all the milestones. Their mind is constantly running, but they aren't.

If he's still sleeping it's nothing to worry about. My doc even said sometimes they can have night terrors but usually grow out of it. And, she was right!

There is such a thing called "night terrors". I'm not sure what the usual age is to have them. My son got them after I started infant swimming lessons.

My daughter used to wake up screaming & it turned out she was allergic to milk so she was in extreme pain from cramps caused by her night time bottle. This was after I stopped breastfeeding & put her on regular milk (so she would have been around 7-8 months) & I didn't realize that I should have put her on formula at that age.

Thanks for asking this question. My little girl (five months yesterday) does that too.

My ped doc gave me no real answers. He just kind of shrugged it off.

A friend of mine told me it was because the baby was reliving the trauma that happened during labor. But that sounds so sad. I hope it is just gas like a PP said.

Enjoy your new one! Time goes so fast doesn't it?

Its pretty normal. Especially if he wails and then falls right back to sleep. They get gas, and at this age, they really start moving around in their sleep, and it startles them.

It will pass. Try not to panic when you hear him.
