I have terrible back pain when I ovulate and when I have a monthly period, Ive had it now for 3 months, had all smear tests and swabs taken in my surgery by my gp and all are fine. Now I've been referred to a gynecologist for other testing to be done.
Has anybody else had these symptons and been referred? what was your outcome?

I dont take the contraceptive pill and I dont suffer abdominal pain, just severe back pain for 21 days in total in every month.

They might be checking to see if you have endometriosis or other medical conditions that can cause the pain. I have chronic lower back pain due to my endometriosis. The pain is much more severe when I am ovulating or on my period. The link below has more info on it.

Yes. I have a Polyp in my womb, endometriosis and poly cystic ovaries. When I saw the Gynaecologist they did an internal examination with a probe, a colposcopy to examine the cervix ( even though my smear was normal ) and took some biopsies. Am now awaiting a laparoscopy to have the endometriosis lasered off and a small op to have the polyp removed. It was all a little bit uncomfortable and slightly painful, but the most likely cause for the lower back pain all the time is probably endometriosis. Good luck. I sympathise with you and hope you get it sorted soon so you can be pain free.

No real answer but hope this helps anyway. My pain (ovulation, period, labour) is always in the back and not the stomach. It has changed over the years, getting less and less.

So, the fact that it is in your back and not your stomach doesn't matter at all. The persistence of pain may or may not be a problem and of course, you should have your tests, but from what you've said, it doesn't sound unusual or worrying. Hot water bottles help.

yup..if big enough, fibroids can cause something like that also..

Fibroids are usually problematic in late 20's to 30's as increase in estrogen tends to spur it's growth rate...

Another source of it would be estrogen mimicking chemicals that you find in plastic food containers which could cause abnormal growth of these fibroids...

I suggest that if this turns out to be fibroid problem..replace all plastic containers with glass or other types of environmental hormone free materials...

I used to get that but believe it or not it actually went away of its own accord. It might be linked to when I started taking contraceptives, now I dont really suffer at all.

You really need to read "Endometriosis Bible & Violet Protocol" by Zoe Brown (also available in electronic format here: http://www.endometriosisbible.info ). It's about how to eradicate endometriosis disease forever. It worked for me, you will see results in only a matter of weeks. Good Luck!
