For a 1.6 Focus I'm sure it'll be OK to leave it 'til after the budget. It's only people driving uneccessarily big cars like 4x4's that have never seen mud before in their lives who are going to have it coming!

I'd buy it before!! Tax may go up, but then again it will most likely be 4x4's that are most hit!! One thing is for sure car tax will not go down!! Even if you buy it before the budget and car taxes are not touched you won't lose out!! Since you still have to re-new your tax at some point!!

Sounds like it's us 4X4 drivers who are going to be hit again. If your tax is due this month then I doubt yours will go down in price in the budget.

I would say definitely before, it certainly won't go down! The only problem you may have is if the tax goes up and it is with immediate effect, you may have to pay extra.

Probably get it before - mind you they were waiting to collect extra tax from pre booked holiday flights at the airports! So he'll just get it later anyway. He likes backdating his charges.

if close to budget time....before.
if a few months then why worry...you are saving for those months.
gas guzzlers are supposedly under threat, as most MP's drive at least yer average Jag/Daimler type motor i wonder if it will go through...anything under 1600 should be safe.

does your old disc run out before the budget ? if so you have to buy it or declare your vehicle " off road ". it's not worth the hassle for a few quid.
