What did you please think about Borat on Comic relief? He was crude and rude but there was children in the audience. Also he was very racist with his comment on buying some chocolate children. Why hasn't this been picked up by the news papers like Big Brother? Is it because comic relief is on the BBC and is goverment funded?

The whole racism thing doesn't bother me! But what does is the fact that Jade Goody has been slandered for her comments on Big Brother which were not half as bad as Borats on Comic Relief!

The reason I have posed this question is it was asked on my local radio station phone in last night. Just astonishing how a bunch of hypocrites can criticise Jade, Joe and Danielle for being stupid but can stick up for Borat! I don't think any of it is right and just because it was for a good cause doesn't mean we forgive it.

yeah i thought the same thing! and the fact that there were children in the audience was a bit wrong! but i think because it was a comical charity thing i guess it was ok!
What did Jade say that was racist? oh yeah Shilpa popadom! thats it!

Borat saying how he hates Jews (although he is a jew himself) and being very racist live on TV! not fair!

To be honest, anybody who thinks Borat is being racist is completely missing the point.

Sacha Baron Cohen (who is himself Jewish) makes his character Borat deliberately racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-Semitic, e.t.c, in order to poke fun at those who genuinely hold these unacceptable views. And judging by how much he gets up the noses bigots and racists everywhere he goes, it seems to be quite effective.

My main problem with Borat on comic relief night is that he just wasn't very funny. Borat is a character that needs to interact with real people if the comedy is going to work as it should. So just having him standing in front of a camera talking is not particularly effective.

I thought that Borat was fantastic on comic relief!
What got me though was the fact that children were still in the audience at that time!
They know that after a certain time that things will get ruder so they should stop children coming in after a certain time!
And they also know that Borat will be rude and crude!

Its called comedy!!

It was well after midnight, after the watershed. Graham Norton said some cruder things in the link beforehand.
The whole idea behing Borat is that it is slightly ignorant, if not racist. The fact that it is so brazen is what makes it funny.

It was not picked up in the same way as the Big Brother thing because it was not personal, it was directed at one person to cause harm, and it was in the context of the sketch.

Stands to reason that Borat's contribution would be racist and risque. The on/off switch is there for all to use and any parents taking their kids to see Comic relief would know who the contributors would be. It's their choice to let their kids watch it or not. I don't see why the BBC should censor any more than Channel 4 or any other channel.

Wel I agree with you I thought it was totally out of line and order and not just because of the children for anyone.
I dont get Borat one single bit and before anyone says I am a boring old person my daughter who is 17 and her mates think he is rubbish too and walked out of cinema.
I love comic relief however hsi contribution was most definatly the worst.

That's the way Borat is.
And why were there children in the audience after midnight?
It's not as though Graham Norton is going to tame his act for a couple of sprogs.
