I started out Topomax at 25 mg I think and then added 25 or 50 mg a week until I got relief at 300+ mg.

The first six weeks were my side effect time. Then the side effects went away. I experienced nausea and vomiting, loss of apetite and lost 20 lbs or so. My libido disappeared too.

My neuro told me that if I could make it through the side effects of Topomax that I would get some relief. I forced myself through the side effects (I think there was a bit of "grouchiness" too and some other stuff) And I lost my migraines for about 8 weeks.

But my migraines returned. I hope the Topomax works for you.

I was on Topamax for 6 months and was miserable with side effects for 3. It did reduce the migraines I had but I couldn't tolerate the side effects; bleeding gums and pain in my teeth so bad I could barely chew ( my dr. didn't believe me), anxiety and moodiness, irregular menstrual cycles and weight loss , which I think was due to not being able to chew so I didn't eat as much.

Have you talked to your dr. about this?

After I stopped taking it the side effects all disappeared. Now, a few months later, the migraines have returned and I am back to almost daily headaches. It's frustrating. I'm sorry you're experiencing this but you're in good company.

These are some real life experiences from other people on the net, sounds like a pretty crappy drug to me, I don;t know why a doctor would;nt supplt you with some oxy contin pain relievers, Hope tat stuff is informative.

Hey, I'm a MA(Medical Assistant) I use to work with a pain medicine Docter. Topamax works but not every patient gets relief from taking it. If your not getting relief then ask your doctor about Relpax.
