I was reading somewhere that sooner than later, terrorists will have access to fairly refined nuclear weapons (originating from eastern Europe or the disintegration of Pakistan). If terrorists do manage a nuclear strike within the US, what would be the US reaction? Remember, terrorists, unlike nation states are hard to identify & strike back at. It is like fighting an invisible enemy with no concrete achievable goals.

These terrorists are cowards. They crawl into the country that later pays to support them, then commit atrocitys against the people that are supporting them.
If they have a decent argument, then let them speak out.
If these people want war, then let them proclaim that they are at war with a certain country. But they know they will never get the support of their mother country.

But to answer your question. Nuclear war is unlikely to happen in your lifetime. It is all about sabre rattling. But I am glad I am too old now to see what happens when Juntas get Nuclear capabilities, and some hot head presses the button.

I have done my share about worrying what the world is coming to. It is time the kids of today - tomorrow's leaders - take an interest in what is happening in the wider world, and try to do something about it.
Though what you can do, I cannot think.....

It's not a matter of IF....but WHEN. let's hope we can put that day off as long as humanly possible.
The response would have to be to return the favor in some form.
