What are the advantages of using APA formatting for academic papers? What aspect of APA formatting do you find most troublesome?

APA is great simply because you can use footnotes. I love them! If you need to check your source, just look at the bottom of the page and it is right there. If you have Word or Works, you can even insert footnotes using the program, and will never have to worry about renumbering them or font size (it will automattically renumber them if you throw one in before ones that you had already put in)
The things I don't like about APA.... I would have to say the several different types of materials you have to cite. Books, books with more than one author, periodicals, encyclopedias, electronic sources, etc. All slightly different, which makes it annoying. (but hey, its the same with any formatting style)
