This is nothing new, has been done for years. The only problem is you have full posi-trac and when going around a corner, both tires are pulling equally. With factory posi-trac they are a limited slip so when going around a corner one will not pull as much as the other. Of course factory is the best way to go.

lockers are full positrack there is no limited slip in them yes wielding them will give the same results the diffrance is when you break them (and you will)(as i an assumeing your going to hot rod) there much harder to replace also make sure when you weld then you dont get any splatters floating around bearings dont like them

no, but if you lock the rear diff by welding it, it will always be locked. this will make it harder to turn and the car will handle poorly. It will also wear out your tires very quickly, as every time you turn, one wheel will have to slip on the pavement.

Disaster waiting to happen...think about what will happen as soon as you make a turn.

If you want to slide instead of turn on wet or slick roads go ahead.

it's been done but not for street driving... one of your rear wheels will drag when going around corners
