I definitely think we'll see some more expansion in the coming years.

At the top of the list, would probably be Kansas City seeing as they just built that new arena in hopes of getting Pittsburgh. That won't happen now, but the arena is still there waiting.

Other possible cities for expansion would be Portland, Las Vegas, and possibly Winnipeg, but that isn't too likely.

ESPN are for dummies they don't know what the hell there talking about. the NHL is already having a hard time with the 30 teams there have and the league is not going to expand if anything the league will lose some teams in the next 10 to 20 years. allot of teams are losing money and the league will never have more then 30 teams its to much. allot of sports writer and sports commentators will say things they think might happened but in reality its not. who ever said that doesn't no **** about the game.

teams will be moved to another city but no new teams will be added to the NHL.

incudork>>>>>>yes i watch that to, but that's only if a team is forced to move from there city Winnipeg and Halifax would get another team like the Preds or Bluejackets. and there many other teams in the NHL that are really hurting financially.

GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

There is no way the NHL will expand inthe next 5 years. The talent pool that they draw from is already dwindling away. The American fans just won't support another team. Maybe in Vegas but that would be a team moving not an expansion. As it stands now there are too many teams.24 is the ideal number for this league, but they have gone to 30 and that is where it will stay, for many more years.

While many hockey fans cringe at the mention of expansion, it does make sense from a scheduling point of view.

If the league goes to 32 teams with 8 Divisions, the scheduling would be very simple.

Given any team, let them play 1 H 1A vs each team in the opposing conference.

Result = 32 out of conference games.

Let each team play 3 H 3 A vs each of the 3 teams in their division.

Result = 18 in division games.

Let each team play 1 H 1 A vs the 12 remaining teams.

Result = 24 games in conference, out of division

As for the remaining 8 games (if 82 is the goal)

Rotate an extra 8 game set every 3 years against one of the other divisions in the conference.

Under this system every team in the league would play everyone else at least 2 per season. You'd still have those 6 in division games to keep division rivalries important and as for the other 12 teams in each conference that aren't in your division, you play twice 2 of 3 seasons and four times 1 of 3 seasons.

As such, I wholely expect Bettman and the NHL to expand. I presume Winnipeg and Kansas City will be the recipients and maybe Quebec City/Seattle/Portland/Halifax/Houston will also obtain teams if teams relocate.

If the NHL does add two new teams then they will have to have a new western team most likely Vegas. Then they will need a new team in the eastlike Hartford or Quebec city. I hope they place the new teams back in Canada because these cities will have no problem selling tickets. Quebec and Winnipeg need hockey back. It is our game, we don't take baseball or football teams on America let us have hockey again.

Exapnsion is a terrible idea for this league. If anything less teams woulld be better. I would like to see a 26-28 team league. Maybe four divisions with 7 teams each, and the top four from each division making the playoffs. Then we could have a real divisonal round playoff series. I liked the way it was pre Eastern and Western Confrence, back when Wales and Campell confrences were it.

Quebec city will in all probability get a crew after 2015 even as their section is executed. Seattle is making plans an section, they're going to in all probability get a crew once theirs is executed as well. there are fairly some NHL communities seeking to promote today, i imagine the NHL needs them to promote too, yet for more advantageous expenditures to shop crew values extreme. a pair different cities that are accessible are Las Vegas, Kansas city and OKC, in spite of if there is no longer something concrete for any of them. BQ The Coyotes are proper of the record today, an possession manage Jamison ought to shop them in Phoenix, in the different case they are bye bye this offseason. likely to Seattle in view that they could have an section accessible speedier. The Islanders are also in warm water today, anticipate a wrestle from the NHL to shop them in enormous apple even if. Carolina, Columbus and Dallas are also suffering today and opt to promote, i'd say they are the proper applicants for Quebec today..

I certainly hope not. For me, they can afford to lose about 12 teams as it is.

But I can see Seattle, Milwaukee, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, and Salt Lake City as the likely candidates. With the economic disparity between the Canadian and American dollars being what it is, I seriously doubt we will see any new Canadian franchises.

On a humorous note, we could use a professional team in Philly....

Kansas City and Houston, maybe Vegas depending on if the NHL is willing to put a team there. We know Kansas City is really lobbying for a team, let's hope they SUPPORT it this time if they get one. Anyway I'd prefer if they DIDN'T expand, yet I can see it being done.
Oh and I think Nashville or Columbus will be moved to the East to balance the Conferences, unless they do a realignment where it isn't just East and West.

No. If anything, some teams need to relocate like Phoenix and maybe Nashville. Two more expansion teams would just be stupid. But than again, we're talking about Bettman.
