We fall down due to gravitational attraction of the earth.

You must be wondering why the moon does not fall down on earth since the gravitational pull of the earth is much more stronger than the moon's. The reason is because moon has horizontal motion which is tangential to the gravitational field. Only if we (or any other objects) have horizontal motion, we will not fall vertically down on the earth.

We fall down because of the gravitational pull on us. This pull is exerted on us toward the centre of earth. So if you are at the extremes of the earth, you would fall down to the centre of the earth

Due to gravity between us and the massive object we call Earth, there is a force that draws us to the center of gravity of the Earth.
