Don't worry, it is as normal as they say - a sudden drop in blood pressure. I had a couple of near faints myself.
The body is very good at looking after baby - the point of the faint is that it gets you sitting or lying down to normalise your BP.
These episodes are very brief - too quick to pose a threat to the baby.
Congrats by the way!

Many people faint during pregnancy. Did you feel light headed before you fainted? Perhaps you can try to figure out the warning signs so that you are not taken off guard the next time it happens. I never actually faited, but I felt very light headed. If I ate something (fruit or fruit juice), I usually felt better.
When do you see your doctor next? They should do the heartbeat at the next visit. If they dont readily do it, ASK. They have the doppler monitor right there! My doctor did not do the doppler until I was 16 weeks because I am overweight- it is hard to hear when the baby is that small and it has to go through a layer of fat.
Don't worry- call your doctor and make an appointment.

It is normal to faint or feel dizzy in early pregnancy as your blood pressure will naturally drop. If the hospital say you are ok I wouldn't worry, its a bit early for them to do a trace of your babys heart beat, its hard to pick up well before 27-28 weeks, I had my 3rd baby in December and was checked twice a week from 8-35 weeks, they could listen in to the heartbeat from about 20 weeks but sometimes it was really hard to find, if they were worried they would have given you a scan, try not to worry you will soon be able to feel your baby moving, enjoy its a lovely feeling!

Your baby is well protected in there, and I'm sure the medical professionals know best. Falls are most dangerous in the final trimester when the baby is nearer to the surface.
And fainting is not only caused by low iron as someone else said. Far more likely to be due to low blood pressure. I fainted a number of times in early pregnancy and have good iron levels, but had low blood pressure at that time. It is now at a normal level.

my daughter is nearly 7 months she fainted a while back, due to having nothing to eat and the shop was hot
told her never to go out without eating
just make sure you eat something in the morning if your going out ,try not to wrap up too much if going in hot places
good luck hun
your should hear your babies heartbeat at either the 20 week scan(my daughter didnt)
she heard hers first time when she visited the midwife at about 24 weeks

please try and stay calm, i have just had my third baby 5 days ago, pregnancy is no fun, with this one i suffered migraines, sickness, fainting, tummy pains, spotting and just generally feeling crappy but Jaynie has just arrived in perfect working order at full term and my pregnancy was classed as completely normal, its easy to worry that everything is going wrong but your lovely baby is very safe deep inside your tum and I'm sure will be fine, whoever said pregnancy is a breeze was telling porkies as far as I'm concerned, sit back, relax and enjoy!

It sounds like you have low blood pressure. Quite normal in pregnancy. Things to do to help are get up from sitting/laying slowly, keep you blood sugar up by eating little and often. Increase your salt intake SLIGHTLY. Also it will help not to sleep on your back, sleep on your left side where your vena cava will be unrestricted.
Hope this helps

if you faint during pregnancy it means your iron level is down or you can become anaemic has the doctor given you a blood test he should of done by now if not did the hospital do one for you to check your iron level as the baby takes a lot out of you yes i agree they should of checked that the baby was OK but if you have any douts go and see your gp he will put your mind at rest but take it easy for now and do not rush about the first 4 months are crucial

One of my friends fainted all through her pregnancy, it is quite normal. If the docs have checked you over and are happy then you must be ok but speak to your midwife if your worried.
