personally i have tried everything....... I dont want to harm my pets so this is the best thing that i have found to be successful and non barbaric lol. Ok, you know those strips of plastic they make to protect your carpet...? the ones that have little plastic spikes when you turn it over, if u want dull em a little with a nail file and turn it spike side up and lay it on your furniture. It will take one or two jumps on to it and my cats seem to want no part of it, lol As a matter of fact the prefer to go under the couches now.

cayenne pepper works great.
Just sprinkle a little bit over the area and when they jump upon the chair, sofa, table, etc. they will smell it and get off quick.
I asked a vet about this first and he agreed it was fine to use.
Make a water paste out of it too and put a bit on elect. cords etc. one taste and pet leaves item alone. Sure saved my PC cords.

Double sticky tape (for a small dog.or for large dog use wide packing tape and roll end to end and place in several spots where they usually sit) while you are not right there... squirt bottle and a firm NO while you are ...that way there is absolutely no harm done but the tape will drive them crazy.... dogs and cats are not stupid and they will catch on...smile

I used to keep my Rottweiler off my couch by setting mouse traps and putting them on the couch before I left the house. After she set them off a couple times, she was so afraid of them that I didn't even have to set them anymore - I just laid them up there. And I have to mention that she was too large to get caught in them and was never hurt by them. After a while, she got used to another place... on the floor! I think this would work for you dog as well as your cat. Good luck!

Impossible. They will always find a way. Even if you train them to stay off, the minute you leave the house they will do what they want, and get down when they hear you in the driveway.
