if i can take the train, where would i take it from and is it easier or cheaper to fly?

Just pull down the "Station List" for the "Departs"
and "Arrives" windows to see a list of cities serviced
by Amtrak.

Check out Amtrak.com. You can plan your trip by train just as you would by plane. You will have a layover at certain destinations etc. The price just depends on what type of seating you have. But if I had to guess, I would guess flying would be cheaper.

The above link shows Amtrak train stations in and around South Carolina. As to where you take it from and where you get off, and if it is easier to fly, as you didn't say where in NJ you are or where in SC you are going to, I can't tell you. The same link will also show you stations in NJ.
