Why were they not saying that marching for peace is "supporting terrorists"? Why did they not say that the present administration "supported" them?

Granted, not all vets feel this way, but how do you explain the ones who do? How do you explain the ones who are angry about the "war" they were sent to fight?

NOT being in favor of a contrived war does NOT make a person any less patriotic... in fact, I believe that by exercising one's fundamental and Constitutional rights, liberties and freedoms and protesting for what one believes in is more patriotic than hiding something our country is doing wrong. Sometimes it takes more guts being right than going along with the rest of the sheep.

Funny how things change. I recall when Muhammad Ali was called a coward for not going into the draft and fighting in Viet Nam... and now he is hailed as a hero not only to boxing fans but to many millions that were born well after his boxing days were long over... for his courage to stand up for his beliefs.

It was close to 200 years earlier when a group of "hooligans" dressed up as Indians over in Boston and had a Tea Party... and not long afterward a group of ragtime trouble-makers started a war against the mightiest nation of the world and demanded Freedom from Tyranny and Independence... it took guts to do that and today we are have these Constitutionally guaranteed rights, freedoms and liberties that were never before imagined until our forefathers decided to protest! Unfortunately, our rights, freedoms and liberties as guaranteed by our Constitution are imperiled... by someone promising the same to others while limiting ours... strange, isn't it?

The anti-war protesters were well within their rights as citizens, in fact they were exhibiting some of the principles that this nation was founded on. That notwithstanding, I have two problems with the protest. First, They had no need to attempt to use the Vietnam Veterans Memorial for their own political gain, and secondly if you watch video posted by those who attended, there were a multitude of groups that were trying to advance personal agendas which had nothing to do with the stated premise of the United for peace group.

Not many of them were vets, but the press will always make sure they show the very few who are.

Did you notice the protesters that showed up for the other side? All most all of them were veterans of Vietnam or Iraq.

There was only about 1000 of them but they out numbered the anti war protesters after 90 minutes of their three hour protest, because over 90 percent of the anti-war crowd left in the first hour. I guess that shows what kind of commitment they have. I guess that is why they can't see the war through in the first place.

They experienced war and realize that war is not the right way. Or they may feel that the wars they are vets of were necessary, unlike the 2003 unprovoked aggression against Iraq.

There are over 100,000 wounded now and at least half are amputees. I think the Veterans have a definite say over Chickenhawk Internet spammers. Look at this interview of a Republican that opposes the situation.

In any large group of people you will have a percentage who are misguided.

How you feel about the war tells you who is misguided or not.

Did you also notice the number of anti antiwar protesters? Many people feel the antiwar people do nothing but lower moral and support the enemy. I agree.

I noticed most of them were lower enlisted (E-4 and below)...they are probably the same ones complaining about having to take a PT test or pulling guard duty...you will always have whiners and this crap gives them a way to complain and have people cheer them for being a baby...

There were six times as many there who were protesting against the protest, or ensuring that the protestors did not deface any national memorials.

Many of these protesters are great Americans that proudly served their nation.

Even they realize that the War in Iraq is endless, nor is there a victory plan.
