Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, it really demonstrated some of the mistakes society makes in functioning properly. Parts of the book literally give me chills every time I read it!

The Diary of Anne Frank. I read this book after I got back from my trip in '95 to Europe. I was over there when they were having the 50th year anniversary of the liberation of Holland (where Anne Frank lived before she was taken to a concentration camp). I went on the tour there without really knowing too much history about her and her family's plight during the war being Jewish. I did visit another concentration camp by Munich, Germany (Dachau) and it all was very scary and real to me. Once I came home, I was very touched by it all and read the book, then rented the movie. That poor girl and her family. For it to be a true story and to have actually happened is the heartbreaking part. I recommend anyone to do the same. It'll make you realize how lucky we are to be in another time, living in another country.

Influential?

I'll start with the Bible...

Then, I would have to say the first time I read Anne Sexton.

She changed my life... and not always for the better.

Another is a little treasure called:
The Art of Worldly Wisdom.
By: Balthazar Gracian.

and...

Finite and infinite games...
By: James P. Carse. Brilliant! Reading this little black unassuming paperback, was a life altering experience that actually saved me from insanity many a time.
