the final fantasy games have captured me the most with the plots and the storylines. the scariest game i have played would be the silent hill series the have some crazy stuff on those games.

To fit both those questions, I think of Resident Evil 4, and Metroid Fusion.
Both are really pretty good. I wouldnt categorize either as horror or terribly scary games, but they're two of very few games I've played in that category.

I thought that F.E.A.R. was pretty damn scary. If you like other types of scary games, then Resident Evil gamecube remake. The game that captured me... Out of all the games ive played, id have to say Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne.

Thief, the dark project or any from the series Theif.
But that's as much as I ever played.... I haven't played other games beyond it- but I definitely was freaked out - the landscapes were so creepy and difficult and the gobblins in the wiedrest places, or you had to use strange tactics... :P FREAKY
