You have to find a way to let it go. Too many people hold grudges that damage their quality of life. As you say, the recipients of your hate, unless you act it out in some way, are not harmed. You have to ask yourself why you hate these people or this person and if there is anything you can do to resolve the issue. If you cannot confront the person, or people for whatever reason, then you need to seek the counseling of a family member, friend, priest, minister or professional counselor to help you work through it. Realize that it does you no good. If you are religious in nature, pray for the person you hate. That is very hard to do but good therapy. Understand that others have reasons for acting the way they do - reasons you simply may not be aware of. Work to forgive them even if you don't think they deserve it. Do this for yourself - not them.

Hate is something we all battle and I find that if you remove the negative influences and replace them with positive you can start to banish hate from your life, a nice exercise to do is.....think of why you hate things if it's people is it because you see a part of your self in them you don't like or because they are different and if so how different? Try working on asking yourself questions like that , or placing your self on the other side, see it from a different perspective. And you may find your self having compassion instead of hate. Always remember hate is never going to go away unless we all make efforts to remove it.
Peace and love

To want to stop hate is self-contradictory.
Destruction and hate go together... and to want to destroy hate is a desire born out of hatred itself.
Furthermore, in order to destroy hate, you would need to destroy its opposite: love. Take down one and both fall. Both are extreme forms of bias.... and once you do away with them it becomes far easier to be a more neutral and objective person.
Better though is to attempt to control both rather than destroy them outright.... They are both deeply engrained... and often, attempts to oppose them entirely only force them to rear their heads in defiance.
Defeat hate properly by pacifying it with all emotion. Attempt not to love, and you will find no need to hate either.
It isn't that difficult really.... once you understand that simple truth.
Some find it difficult to give up on love.... but it is quite necessary to do so. Like pushing down on one end of a see-saw, the other end will invariably be pushed up.

hate about what? Do u want to fight it?
if its jealousy fight wit admiration
anger fight wit temperance
humiliation fight wit humbleness
resentment fight wit silence (u need to shut-up ur bitterness inside ur heart) and look the person u hate wit his/her positive outcome. Keep lookin in progress then u finally find there is no reason to hate'em (needs time) after that u can forgive
Dont try forgiveness and love at ur weapon at first, cuz its too hard.

U can't stop it, just u can avoid suffocating urself from that emotional outrage.
Just try to hate them so much that u hate to remember them, a greater hatred will swallow up the smaller ones.

Seriously? You need to go to therapy to discover the root of it. Before you harm someone else or yourself with it.

I could say love, which might be true but kind of romantic.
I believe rationalize is more practical.
