I'm not sure how either one of these questions would be asked. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

1. Should a smaller company's system be based on file-server or client/server architecture? Prepare a checklist that includes the main topics and issues that should be considered when making this dicision.

2. Speak to the cost-benefit issues of file server and client/server designs. How much of an impact do you think they would have on a system of this size?

Personally, I prefer Client-Server. Even in smaller companys, a file-server bases system requires a lot of time and effort to make changes and updates to the applications software. Unless a company only has 2 or 3 users, the file-server becomes a big problem very quickly. The two systems are basically the same with one big exception. File-Server systems have the software located on the users workstations, as opposed to being on the Server with the databases and supporting files. To make a change to the application, the applications support personel would have to install a copy of the new application to each of the users work station one at a time every time any change was made. If the application files all resided on the Server as in a Client-Server application, the developer only needs to replace one set of files at one location.
