I'm certain that banning soap operas would be a violation of the 1st Amendment to the US Constitution. So, no they should not be banned.

I hate soap operas with a passion. But they shouldn't be banned. Banning is a socialist act.

I completely agree with u since most soaps only give rise to baser feelings & have often been causes of domestic problems/violence. But the million dollar question is: what do millions of Indian housewives do as an alternative, since they only live for viewing such SOAPS!

where i live (philippines), people watch soaps because it is through these shows that they find problems more depressing than their own. they relate to the characters - see themselves as victims, and in the end, see themselves (in the heroes) prevail.
you can't ban these shows - you'll be taking away a major source of hope! and entertainment. :)

no. if that were true, then why not ban all of those police shows, like law and order and csi? those tell you how you could murder someone and almost get away with it. also, why not ban desperate housewives since that show also involves some characters messing up other people's lives??

No. Adult audiences should be able to discern reality from fiction. An individual's life is his/her own responsibility. Soaps are entertainment, and should not serve as the guide for personal values.

definite! all the soaps on uk television could be banned at as quickly as. I had to ween my mom off the foremost 3 {took the longest to get her faraway from "Eastenders"}, yet she nevertheless watches "Neighbours" :( yet, you could save "The Archers" on BBC Radio 4. it could have quite strayed from 'a on a daily basis tale of rural existence', even with the undeniable fact that it continues to be fairly good high quality. Oh, and on an analogous time as you're at it, are you able to do away with all the cookery programmes {different than "The furry Bikers" and "Valentine Warner"}, the crap infant's television we now produce, and all the reality television shows?! i prefer genuine television decrease back in the united kingdom!
