I've been on BCPs for about a year and a half. I've never had a problem with an irregular period or spotting before. I started my new pack of pills on the first Sunday in March (I had sex during my placebo week once with a condom and once with withdrawl). I had sex during the first week of those pills where on Tuesday I ended up being two hours late taking my pill. Also the time change moved my taking my pills to one hour earlier and since the time change I have consistently taken my pills between 12 and 12:30 everyday. My boyfriend and I have had sex a few times this weekend and Sunday night I noticed and weird brown dot on my underwear. By the time I saw it was dried and crusty (not like regular menstrual bleeding). Is this spotting? and could I be pregnant? I'm on my last active week of pills so I should be getting my period next week. Do I need to be worried?

Spotting is more than a tiny spot on your undies one time. It's more like the tail end of a regular cycle, when you are thinking the panty liner should cover things okay. You may have gotten a little tear during sex, or even rubbed and irritated from the condom, hence the small spot. By the way, you don't have to use the condom for birth control- although it's smart to use it to prevent sharing anything else. You are covered for pregnancy by the pill, even during your week off. You don't ovulate during your cycle- if you ovulate at all, it's around day 14 of your cycle, about 10 days to 2 weeks after the day your last period started. But on the pill, you don't ovulate at all. Your time change on taking the pill will not have any effect on them, so long as it's roughly the same time each day that's fine. It's when you forget one all together you need to have a backup plan. I doubt seriously you are pregnant. More likely it was just over-exertion. If you are otherwise okay and healthy, I'd just breathe out and relax. Sometimes weird stuff just happens and it doesn't signify anything serious at all.

No you do not need to be worried. There would have been more blood if you were spotting. Spotting during the last week of active pills is common once you have been on birth control a long period of time. If it happens you will have to switch pills and then it should stop. I have had it happen to me numerous times. An hour or two late won't effect the pill either.
