I might even visit this place next time I am in the island.

Hope this helps....enjoy your trip....

hi there Ohio C :)

Ive been to that country last summer and i do know about some parks/theme parks and stuff you might want to check out. but be forewarned to not expect anything to the scale/sophistication of the theme parks/parks here in the west thou. the ones in srilanka are kinda modest, but fun nevertheless

There is a good park in colombo called the Vihara-mahadevi park and there is an amusement park right next to it called the "sathutu uyana". but i suggest that not to go to that place cos its not entirely safe, cos the park is splat in the middle of a high-security zone and it would be kinds disconcerting for kids to see soldiers on duty behind sandbagged checkpoints every block.

the one i would suggest that u check out is the "Excel world" amusement park in colombo. Its one of the better parks in colombo and i guess you can call them up and ask about your visit or for info before u visit(if u want to)

there are some good restaurents in there(including pizza hut, japanese, korean, malaysian, and others)and i usually go there to play billiards and have a good meal of shushi:) (or of srilankan cuisine if u prefer that:))

the adress is
338 TB Jayah Mawatha, Colombo, Sri Lanka

Tel: 0115 555996/9

if you and your family are interested in the wildlife; you could check out the Zoo, in dehiwala, about 30 mins drive from colombo.

But im sure you would love the elephant orphanage, where you can see and touch and even get a ride on elephants up close, in Pinnawala

website
http://www.elephant.se/location2.php?location=Pinnawela%20elephant%20orphanage

and then there is "leisure world". the website is provided by the previous poster, i was planning on visiting it this summer but thanks to all the security fracas and checking of private vehicles going out of colombo i dropped my plan of visiting it. after all, i dont wanna be stopped and checked and it simply takes the fun out of the whole outing.

so if i were you ill just stick to the ones that are mostly in and around colombo

hope this helps:)
