no booge im not jealous, jealousy is for losers there is no point in being jealous, im just ambitious when i want something and aim for it and work toward my goal. to tell the truth i jus wanna know if they think they deserve or if they just took advantage of the point system which is very easy to do. i only answer questions that appeal to me, no more no less. mostly within physcology and philosophy.but remember im not accusing anyone of anything just merely stating it could be done and im not trying to approve of anyone its not my right, just making sure they approve of themselves and why.

It doesn't mean anything at all.

I just got up one morning and someone had stuck an obnoxious orange sticker under my avatar.

I posted a request to be removed from the top contributor list that morning on yahoo suggestions and got an email that afternoon telling me that yahoo was deleting my request to opt out of the top contributor thing. No explanation was given.

If you want mine you can have it if you can figure out a way to get it.

love and blessings Don

I'm not a top contributor at the moment, but I suspect I am very close to being one in philosophy. I can't speak for others, but in my case if I do happen to earn this little badge of honor it will be because I have poured a lot of thought into giving answers that provide more depth and substance than most average people are able to achieve. There are two reasons that I am able to do this. First, I nearly have a masters in philosophy (actually, I have waaaay more credits than I need for a masters, but that another story). Second, the answers that I give in Yahoo Answers are not written just to earn points. If that were my strategy, I would try to answer a lot more questions and not put so many of my eggs in so few baskets, so to speak. Also, if I were aiming for points, I would paste the same answer into a lot of different questions, but I don't do that either. Each of my answers is unique and tailored specifically for the question. What I do is look for questions that fit with a topic that I am thinking about anyway. Lately, for example, I'm taking a class on Eastern philosophy, so you will notice a lot of my recent answers are related to Buddhism or Daoism. A lot of what I write for YA relates to what I have to write for my class exams and papers. This is why I have the time to compose such in-depth answers. I am writing stuff that I need to write anyway in order to comprehend the subjects I am studying. In other words, it might seem as though I must live on YA, but in reality I am mostly just doing what I would be doing anyway (that is, writing about philosophical topics) and applying it here. The result is a really high best answer percentage. I'm not sure if this will ever carry into the realm of top contributor in philosophy, but I suspect I'm in the top 20.

Obviously I am breaking somewhat out of my normal routine for this question, just cuz I guess it caught my attention. One thing I do wish is that Yahoo Answers could somehow find a way to reward quality more highly than mere quantity. I would agree with you that it is too easy to simply go gunning for points without really achieving much substance. For me that would be a rather empty and uninteresting pursuit.

I am a top contributor on History, even though I contribute to other topics as well.

All it means is that I have answered a certain number of questions (I think - or it may be that I have achieved a certain number of "Best Answers" in a certain category).

This title conveys no sense that I am more knowledgable than anyone else; nor was it something I asked for, it just appeared all of a sudden.

The views of anyone, irrespective of whether they are a "Top Contributor" or not, are as valid (or as worthless, depending on your perspective) as any other.
