i am unmarried and trying desperately to save money for the future.

Its very good to know that u urself is willing to save money...u can do any of the following:-
saving= income - expenses
whatever money u got as savings...15-20% of that amt invest in Mutual Fund thrugh SIP.

!0-15 % for ur Life Insurance premium(v.Imp)

open a Post office saving a/c & put every month say...500-1000/- for Long term...another 20%

rest u can hold in ur SB a/c as liquid cash.

It is good that you are following a good example for others by saving whatever you can.
It is really tough for ordinary people to save as the living cost is going up day by day.
Irrespective of where you work try to live within your means.
Try to maintain your health also.After all health is wealth.

Start your own internet company. Stay single and dont have any kids right now.
