Okay, I'm pregnant. My youngest daughter will be 19 months when baby is born, so she is still in crib and happy in crib I don't want to move her out of crib until she wants to be moved out of crib. My 2nd daughter was born when my 1st was 19 months old too but she started crawling out of crib at 16 months so we moved her to toddler bed, baby no.2 went straight into crib. So heres my dilema..... Do we buy a bassinette and see if our youngest is ready for a crib by the time baby is ready to be out of basinnette, buy a playpen that has the bassinette inside it we were thinking the Fisher Price Rainforest Playpen, if you don't know what I'm talking about you can see it at babiesrus.com since I think baby may be able to stay in this a little longer than a bassinette to give our youngest a little more time in her crib or do we just buy another crib? Thanks, sorry it was kinda long lol!

First of all congrats on your soon to be new addition. I hope that it's a boy well that is if that,s what you wish for!
I have two beautiful girls and they both did the playpen bassinet combo before the crib. My youngest is now 9 months is still in her playpen in our room. Just easier for now. If I can make a suggestion though, I put two short tubs under the bassinet with blankets on top of them. The bassinet lays right on top of the tubs and blankets. This added extra support for the bassinet and it prevented it from moving when my little ones moved. I found it easier putting the playpen in our room especially for breastfeeding. This way too they're close by and they don't devellop the habit of sleeping with you!
I wish you the best of luck and I wouldn't switch your little one into a bed just yet either. You don't want her to start waking again in the middle of the night because of new found independance and being able to get out of bed whenever she wants. You don't want this to upset her nap(s) during the day either! You need your rest too!

Does she try to climb out at all? Thats kinda tuff b/c some will be ready for a toddler bed at that age then there are others that stay in a crib till 2 1/2 or older. (mine were both about 2 1/2) If you are going to buy a bassinette anyway (maybe you want the bassinette in your room a while etc) then I would hold off on the crib but If your thinking of buying the bassinette only so you can wait on the crib...then I wouldnt. The playpen with the bassinette maybe b/c you would get more use out of that later. If your youngest one goes to the toddler bed and is not adjusting well she may get upset that the new baby has her bed. THen she may not like the baby!
I know I still didnt give you a straight answer but hopefully I have helped a little with the thought process.

I would buy the pack n play. But make sure you get one with the bassinette like you talked about. We got the graco one with a bassinette and used that all the time! We had very limited space, then bought a house that required us to redo the room she would be in. So we set the pack n play up in the dining room just outside our bedroom door and she slept in that until she was 7 months old. Then we were able to move her into her crib and into her own room upstairs, with a baby monitor and an older brother in the room next to hers upstairs. In all honosty, the pack n play with the bassinette was a complete life saver and was the best purchase we could have made. I would skip the bassinette, and get the pack n play that also has the bassinette, that way you can still use it later as a play pen when the baby gets older. It won't seem like such a waste of money that way.Good Luck!
PS... our PNP also had a changing table on one side and the bassinette open on the other. It really was the best thing we could have gotten. It was the pooh bear one from walmart and I think I paid about 70 bucks for it.

I wouldn't move your 2nd daughter out of her crib until she's ready, but I also wouldn't spend the money for another crib when she will more than likely be out of hers soon. I would choose the Pack n' Play with the bassinette attachment. My daughter is 6 mos old now, we are moving in a few months and she's been in a PNP since she was born just because of lack of space, but she's doing fine and I'm sure yours will too. Good Luck.

I agree, dont take her out of the crib until she wants to/needs to - for she may feel that the baby is taking her bed. Get the bassinette or the pack-n-play (probably will last longer in the p.n.p) and wait - two cribs for a short overlapping time could be a pain- unless you can borrow one from a friend. I am a big fan of borrowing items that kids will grow out of!

I would buy the bassinnette for the new baby. The baby can sleep in that for at least the first 3 months. By then, hopefully your 19 month old will be ready for a big girl bed. She'll be ok to be put in a big girl bed - especially when she sees that a baby needs her crib. She should be just fine.

I would go with the pack n play. There cheaper, and you can buy them used as well from a baby resale shop. I bought a second crib because my kids were so close and we didn't end up using it. So there went $500 out the window, poof....just like that!

I would do the playpen with the bassinet, in my opinion, you will get more use out of it, instead of just buying the bassinet because that will only last you until 4 months. They also have the playpen with the bassinet and changing table combo. Good Luck and Congratulations.
