I think quite a few movies fall into this category. Bringing Up Baby (1938) was not a box-office hit despite being considered as one of the best romantic comedies. Recently, The Majestic (2001) was a film both my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed but which tanked at the box-office.

2 of my fave movies were flops at the theaters. The most notable being 'It's a Wonderful Life'. It has become a classic due to constant repeats, but it's actually a very good movie. I watch it every time it come on t.v. My other one is 'Xanadu'. I love the music and the story. Plus I'm such a huge Gene Kelly fan, I'll watch anything he's in.

Most recently, "The Astronaut Farmer" would fall into this category for me. Wonderful film, poor box office.

They slated Transformers too, the two sequence are a number of my usual action pictures, i take no word of what a action picture critic says presently, i will nonetheless be staring at John Carter evidently sturdy to me.
