The best dvds out now i think are 'The Departed' and
'Pan's Labyrinth' both VERY good. There isn't really any good films out in the cinema at the moment, but theres a film called 'Half Nelson' coming out soon which i've been hearing a lot of good things about.

We use Lovefilm.com too. So we can watch a film before we decide wether or not to buy it.
It's a good way to rent DVD's, and you can have up to 3 discs at a time.
You just create a list and they post them out to you.
Anyway, here's some films I've seen recently that i liked:

The Departed
The Prestige
Constant Gardener
Syriana
Devils Rejects
Munich
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Ray
The Family Stone
Mrs Henderson Presents

Some good films that have just released:

-The Prestige - very good
-The Queen - interesting
-Pan's Labyrinth - Exciting
-Casino Royal - if you want to see another new Bond
-Step Up - typical 'dance' movie
-Saw III - not very good, but watchable
-Devil Wears Prada - very good

Loads more coming out soon - but these are the best from the last month or so

The new James Bond film is out today if you like that sort of thing. We got Pirates of the Caribean 2 at the weekend, that is quite fun. Children of Men is a serious one which looks good too, or Pans Labyrinth if you enjoy fantasy.

I would recommend joining LOVEFILM and for a few quid each month you can watch loads of films and they are all rated. If you want I can send you a link so you'll get a months free rentals. If you are in the UK that is.

In all honesty the best films we've seen haven't been released recently - Crash, Tsotsi, Hero were the best though.

I saw Premonition over the weekend. I wouldn't waste my time or money if I was you.
