I saw the Tennessee vs Virginia game Sunday and it had to be the worst. The worst no-call of the year was Cain (Virginia) hanging on the rim to pull himself back into position and block (foul) childress' shot. First, its a technical anytime someone grabs the rim while playing D, and second, it should have been defensive goaltending b/c Childress was shooting while Cain was on the rim.
Another no-call was the Oden push at the baseline toward the end of regulation in the OSU/Xavier game. I thought that you had to make an attempt at the ball in a situation like that. There was no attempt for the ball, just a blatant shove to the ground. That call gave OSU the game.

Umpires are in baseball and one in football. Referees in basketball.

I think the officiating has been very shaky, particularly when it alters the outcome of the game. The worst I've seen is the one you refer to, the Oden flagrant foul no call, when he flat out pushed a player off the court. Xavier had won the game, barely, even with the missed freethrow, but the refs gave it to Ohio State by not calling the foul flagrant. Stuff like that makes me nuts.

Has been a little shaky. The Oden push was really bad. But OSU seems to get those calls. Remember the OSU Miami championship football game.?

yeah. a lot of teams fan bases are complaining about the officiating. It seems like most of the calls are going to the higher seeded teams. You can add to the ILL/ VT game. At the end of the game the kid from illinois missed the front end of a 1 & 1, got his own rebound and was tackled to the ground. The refs swallowed their whistle and time ran out. ILL lost 54-52.

I believe the addition of the third ref has improved the game calling greatly. I have noticed of late that allot of fans are paying more attention to the way the game is called instead of what the team they are supporting is doing on the court. I am sorry but a drive attempt into double coverage does not earn the foul. Instead of getting down on the refs, how about getting on the player about looking at the ball instead of what he is dribbling into.

Yeah, I've heard some pretty bogus calls and I was getting really miffed yesterday during the KU/UK game. Kansas got like 4 offensive fouls called on them all within a minute or 2 and then Sasha Kaun for KU had the most beautiful block EVER and they said he fouled. They replayed it a bunch of times and it was so clean.

The umpires' job in a fast paced game, is always a very difficult one, perhaps a thankless job! Okay, there are umpires and umpires! Sometimes a good game is marred by bad umpiring: to that extent, one agrees with the statement.
